We look forward to welcoming you to Ernie Els Wines. We want every visit to feel relaxed, memorable and beautifully considered, and our Guest Policy helps us create an enjoyable experience for everyone.
Below you’ll find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. If there is anything else you would like to know before your visit, our team will be happy to assist.
For groups of eight guests or more, as well as bookings on public holidays and selected special-occasion dates, a deposit is required to secure your reservation.
The deposit is R380 per person for the Tasting Room and R400 per person for the Restaurant.
Payment must be received at least five days before your reservation date. Unfortunately, bookings without payment by this deadline may be cancelled.
All credit card payments are securely processed through a third-party payment gateway. Ernie Els Wines does not view or store your card details.
Yes. For Tasting Room bookings of eight guests or more, a minimum spend and deposit apply.
The minimum spend is calculated according to the price of our most affordable Players Tasting together with a Cheese or Charcuterie Plate per person. A 15% gratuity is not included in this amount.
The good news is that your minimum spend can be used towards food and beverages across the estate, including tastings, wines by the glass, bottles of wine and merchandise.
Please note that any unused portion of the minimum spend is non-refundable.
Absolutely. Guests are welcome to arrange photography at the estate for special occasions.
Please let us know your preferred arrival time in advance so that our team can make a photography booking for you. A photography fee of R500 applies.
Our winery closes at 17:00. If guests are still enjoying the terrace after this time, photography may occasionally be possible, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee access beyond closing time.
You are welcome to take photographs inside the building and on the terrace, provided this does not interrupt the experience of other guests. We kindly ask that other guests are not requested to move or avoid an area for a photoshoot, and that flash photography is not used around them.
Vehicles may not be parked in a way that blocks entrances or access routes.
We recommend arriving in good time so that you can settle in and enjoy the full experience.
For lunch, dinner and Tasting Room reservations, we kindly ask all guests to be seated at their confirmed reservation time.
If you would like to enjoy a drink before dinner, you are very welcome to arrive earlier and relax in one of our designated lounge areas.
Late arrivals can affect the flow of service, and unfortunately we cannot guarantee the full experience when a seating is delayed.
We can comfortably accommodate vehicles up to the size of a Sprinter bus through our usual guest access.
A 52-seater coach can also be accommodated, but this must be arranged with us in advance as access is through our delivery entrance.
Our team will gladly provide detailed arrival instructions where required.
You are very welcome to share your seating preference when making your reservation, and we will do our best to accommodate it.
Specific tables cannot be guaranteed, however, as final table allocations depend on availability and the operational requirements of the day.
We also ask that guests keep to their reserved time slot. Tables are allocated for a set period and may be reserved for another party afterwards.
If you need to cancel your booking or reduce your final guest numbers, please let us know at least 72 hours before your scheduled arrival.
Where notice is received within this period, we will gladly refund the applicable deposit, including the deposit for any confirmed guests who are no longer able to attend.
Reserved tables are held for up to one hour after the confirmed reservation time. Unfortunately, arrivals later than this will result in the booking being forfeited.
To keep the payment process as seamless as possible, we do not offer split bills.
A single bill can, however, be settled using a maximum of five card transactions.
The setting and décor at Ernie Els Wines are an important part of the experience we create for our guests, so we kindly ask that additional celebratory décor is not brought into the venue.
This includes items such as balloons, banners, confetti and similar decorations.
Yes, you are welcome to bring a cake for your celebration. Once the candles have been blown out, our kitchen team will be happy to slice and plate it for you.
Cakeage fees are:
Restaurant – R40 per slice
Tasting Room – R150 per cake
Chilli Shed – R150 per cake
We offer a carefully selected range of wines and beverages for guests to enjoy during their visit, and therefore do not permit outside wine, beverages or spirits to be brought onto the estate.
Our winery experience is designed with an adult audience in mind and does not cater specifically for younger children.
For this reason, guests under the age of 12 are not permitted at the winery.
Pets may join you only by prior written arrangement with our team.
Where permission has been granted, pets must remain calm, on a lead and under control at all times. This helps us maintain a comfortable and hygienic environment for all our guests.
We want everyone visiting Ernie Els Wines to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the estate.
We therefore kindly ask guests not to play music or voice notes from personal devices, take calls in the dining room, or engage in activities that may disturb those around them.
If excessive noise continues after a request from our team, we reserve the right to ask the guest concerned to leave the dining room.
We are honoured that guests may consider Ernie Els Wines for such a meaningful occasion. However, we are unable to facilitate, coordinate or knowingly accept bookings specifically planned around engagements or marriage proposals.
This means that we cannot reserve a specific proposal area, coordinate the movement of other guests, arrange photographers for a proposal, facilitate gatherings around the moment, or accommodate proposal-specific décor or set-ups.
If a proposal happens spontaneously while you are enjoying your time on the terrace, our team will naturally not intervene. We simply cannot assist with planning or facilitating the occasion in advance.
We want your time at Ernie Els Wines to be as effortless and enjoyable as possible. If you have a question that is not covered above, please contact our team here and we will gladly assist.
