Each year, select Shiraz grapes are naturally dried on the vine to concentrate sweetness and flavour, creating the base for this refined, sweet fortified wine in the style of Ruby port. Hand-harvested and matured in old French oak using a Solera-style system, it offers aromas of raisins, Christmas cake, and fynbos. A smooth, elegant digestif, perfect with chocolate or cheese.

The Shiraz grapes for our Big Easy Sweet Spot are sourced from select vineyard parcels on the warm, north-facing slopes of the Helderberg Mountain within the Stellenbosch appellation. The Hutton Clovelly soils, rich in gravel content, provide a generous middle-palate weight and exceptional fruit purity. Situated at an altitude of approximately 250 metres above sea level, these vineyards benefit from the cooling influence of the Atlantic Ocean just 15 kilometres away, extending the ripening period and allowing for full phenolic development. In the lead-up to harvest, selected grape bunches are gently stem-bent to naturally dry on the vine, concentrating both sweetness and flavour and creating the foundation for this refined, fortified wine.
The Shiraz grapes were harvested by hand in the cool early mornings to preserve freshness and delicate aromatics. Once in the cellar, the grape bunches were gently destalked and partially fermented as whole berries in open-top fermenters, with manual punch-downs to extract colour, flavour, and soft tannins. At the halfway point of fermentation, the wine was fortified to retain the natural sweetness of the concentrated, naturally dried grapes. Maturation took place in seasoned French oak barrels, where each vintage was carefully blended into older reserves using a Solera-style system, ensuring complexity, consistency, and a silky, lingering finish.
Deep garnet with a youthful ruby edge. Aromas of dried cranberries, raisins, and Christmas cake unfurl alongside hints of wild fynbos and soft floral spice. The naturally dried Shiraz grapes bring a luscious core of red berries and candied cherry, with delicate layers of cinnamon, cocoa, and sweet tobacco. Silky smooth on the palate, the wine offers a seamless balance between natural sweetness, gentle tannins, and a lingering finish of soft spice and warm fruit richness.
