Harvest Season 2022
The Harvest Season typically begins the moment when the sugar, flavours and acidity of the grapes are in perfect harmony. For us, this was on the 18th February 2022, when we started off our Harvest Season with our Merlot blocks and fortunately had a relatively smooth-sailing harvest period from there.
According to our Viticulturist, Leander Koekemoer, the 2022 vintage will definitely be remembered as the year in which we had good fruit set.
“More berries per vine means a good balance between reproductive and vegetative growth, and, because we prune to only allow a certain tonnage per hectare, we won’t over burden the leaves. The mild conditions allowed the vines to catch up nicely with warm days after veraison (when the grapes change their colour).”
As Leander says, this heat before the harvest is very important for the development of red cultivars, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, allowing it to reach its optimal quality and also maintaining our premium consistency.
Our 2022 Harvest Season has now drawn to a close and we picked the last of our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on the 23rd March 2022.
For now, we give the vineyards some time to rest and we look forward to tasting our first glass of 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon!
Signature 2016
We have recently released the latest vintage of our Iconic Bordeaux-style Blend, forming the pinnacle of our Ernie Els Wines collection – the Ernie Els Signature 2016.
This New World wine is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon-based, with a portion of Merlot and a splash of Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
“The 2016 vintage is focused on elegance and purity, expressing primary red fruit upfront with a minerally palate and serious velvety finish.” – Louis Strydom, Winemaker
This vintage was awarded 93 Points by Tim Atkin MW, who described it as “ripe and figgy” with “smooth tannins, toasty 70% new wood, liquorice and dried herbs”, ending in a “firm finish”.
It’s available from our online shop in a beautifully-presented red gift box. Delivery is free for all SA residents.
Trading Times – Easter Weekend
We are looking forward to welcoming you to our winery over the Easter Weekend. We will be closed on Good Friday, the 15th April and will reopen on Saturday, the 16th April for the remainder of the long weekend. Our Restaurant will also be open on Monday, the 18th April.

Treat those special ladies this coming Mother’s Day to our annual Mother’s Day Lunch.
To make the day extra memorable, we are offering a Special Set Menu; with a 2-course option and a 3-course option, available for R275 per person and R340 per person respectively.
This Mother’s Day Set Menu includes a decadent Chocolate Mousse as one of the dessert options – sure to impress that special lady!
